I hope it rains this weekend….
I hope it rains this weekend because this weekend we have to bail hay. Baling hay is not fun and it is really hot and I am going to be swetting up a storm. We Bale more than 25,000 bales every year and with all of this rain we are going to have to bail a lot more than that.
Last year we only bailed 32,000 bales and it was pretty dry last year. Baling hay is a long process. First you have to you have to cut and put the grass into rows. Second you have to hook the baler up to the tractor and then hook the trailer to the baler. Third you take the baler out into the field where the rows are and then you start bailing. The wagon is hooks up to the baler and once the baler finishes a bail you are on the wagon you grab the bale and stack it on the wagon. After the wagon you take back to the barn and unload it and then out on the convey. The convey is a like a moving latter you stick three bales on out and then it takes it up to the loft where you want it. The really bad thing about baling is that it’s really hot and we bale lot and lots of hay.
This is why I want it to rain this weekend!!!

Is bailing hey really that bad, because everybody I know that bails hey says it is really hard.
Oh, Zach I just saw your comment and heres an opinion for you it is really hard. Like Micah said there are so many steps to follow in order until the hay is finally bailed. It takes work, that’s for sure.
Micah, I can tell that there must be wide open pastures were you live. Like my house. We live were there is a lot of pasture. I’ve had to help bail before too. It is a big job. My dad and me are usually the ones to bail. Although this year we aren’t bailing. Corn is taking over it’s place. We are raising a garden too. So it seams to me I will be pretty busy this summer.
HAVE FUN :}
So how has your summer been so far Micah. We bailed hay from 8:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the evening and let me tell you it was hotter the heck out there. I got a great farmer’s tan and a good sun burn on my face.
I’ve been working my horse and my sheep walkin them and getting them ready for fair, Ross County Fair of course.
Hope you have a great summer bail lots and lots of hay. OK!!!!!!<3
How has summer been so far? How many bales of hay do you guys think you bailed? When you bale do you have people come over and help you bale or do you just bale it by yourself? Last week my two sisters and my mom went to South Carolina for a week and it was just me and brothers and dad and it was awesome!!!! The same week they were gone we bailed hay from Thursday to Sunday. We baled about 3,000 bales and we filled up our barn and it was still only first cutting. Anyways enough bailing talk. Have you been doing anything exciting over the summer? When’s the Ross County Fair. The Pickaway County Fair which I go to is already over it’s the first fair in Ohio I think. I took a Dairy Beef Feeder. In the actual show I got fifth out of ten people and in showmanship I got tenth out of nineteen. I sold my cow for 1,000 and some so I guess I did pretty well. I’m sure you’ll do really well with your lamb and horse. By the way when is the Ross County Fair and when do you show I think that I might go to the Ross County fair and if I do I might as well whatch you. Good luck at the fair if I don’t come (although I’m pretty sure I am) and have a fantastic rest of the Summer!!!!
Hey Micah!!!! How is your summer?!?!? Are you enjoying it?! I sure am enjoying mine even though it has been HOT!!!!!! Can’t wait to see you guys soon!!!
We had to bail hay too. We worked from 7:00to 10:30. But the good thing was that we had Shawn and rusty to help. We put up 45,000 bails. It was hot I got sun brunt on my face and my arms.
